Two Paintings of Shipwrecks
Two paintings of the sea from the fascinating Compton Verney Folk Art Collection that show storms and the sea.

The first shows the wrecking of seven ships of Deal in Kent on one night in February 1870 and the other launching of the Lowestoft lifeboat to rescue the crew of a ship in trouble. They have in common that they were not painted by professional artists but that doesn't stop them being skilful or less worthy of our interest...or does it?
