Teachers Intro
Your class may have heard of Picasso or Van Gogh but we know how it can be a challenge to introduce contemporary creative people and their work into the classroom as well as developing pupils' hands-on creative skills. At Culture Street, our passion is encouraging pupils' creativity, and their engagement with living artists, writers, performers and filmmakers, in the classroom and beyond. Our website is an ever-growing bank of interactive and video resources to inspire your class to get started and involved with the arts. There is everything from making a clay coil pot, an animation, or a book, to understanding what the Turner Prize is all about.

The new site is designed to support Arts Award, particularly the new Discover and Explore levels for 9-11 year olds, as well as Bronze, Silver and Gold.

Check out all the amazing work on our Art, Stage, Film and Books channels. You can introduce your class to an artist by watching a short 'Who is' video clip. You can encourage further investigation of that artist with our Watch at Work, Techniques or Questions' sections and there are even reviews by young people of some of the featured exhibitions, plays, films or books.

We provide practical, curriculum-linked support for creative projects in our workshops section. Here, we feature a wide range of classroom workshops led by our collaborations with professional artists from many different artforms. Most workshops have nine short video clips to help you and your class get arty. The workshops are all filmed using whole classes. Teachers' notes to accompany the workshops will soon be available from our store.

Culture Street is developed by the award winning team that brought you ArtisanCam and Film Street. As Culture Street, we've been able to draw together our family of creative websites in one place. Funded by the Arts Council England we're very excited to now partner Arts Award to support pupils in developing their creative and leadership talents and gaining accreditation.
